Check your mail, if you haven't already, and exercise your democratic power by filling out your ballot and returning it no later than 8 pm August 5th. But really, why wait? Vote early and remind your friends and neighbors to vote, too! ✅ 🗳️
Thank you for all the love and support so far, Kenmore. We are genuinely so happy to be in this with you. Looking forward to watching your votes come in! ❤️
My name is Tracy Banaszynski and I’m running to represent you on Kenmore City Council (Position 2).
Thirteen years ago, I became a parent. My child cracked my heart open and taught me unconditional love. Two years after that, I fell in love, unconditionally, with salmon. My child and salmon continue to be my North Stars, reminding me of our interconnectedness. We need each other. My parenting, my community volunteering, and my professional work as leader of a salmon recovery non-profit have all been in service of creating spaces where people are valued and empowered to do the important work of healing themselves, our communities, and our planet.
In addition to being a parent – my most important work – I am the founder and organizer of Sno-King Watershed Council’s Swamp Creek Habitat Restoration Project; a founding member of community advocacy groups Northshore Social Justice Action Group and Kenmore for People-Oriented Places; and was recognized with a Super Eco-Creator Award by the City of Kenmore in 2025.
I serve as the Chair of the Kenmore Planning Commission, a Precinct Committee Officer for the Democratic Party, and Co-Executive Director of Mid Sound Fisheries Enhancement Group.

I would be deeply honored to earn your support and work for all of us on Kenmore City Council. ❤️
I love Kenmore. I want to make it even better with you.
We grow best working together.
Our community is growing and changing, which brings exciting opportunities to shape a future where Kenmore is for all of us. Everyone who lives, works, and plays in Kenmore deserves a home, a sustainable neighborhood, and excellent quality of life.
In order to achieve this vision, we need housing to be affordable for everyone and our neighborhoods to be places where children can safely walk to school, a park, and a neighborhood gathering spot for a treat. The person who rings up our groceries should be able to call Kenmore home, our teachers should have a short commute because they can afford to live here, and our children should be able to stay in Kenmore when they are ready to leave the nest. We also need to grow local businesses that provide good paying jobs for people living in Kenmore and keep money circulating in our local economy.
As your City Councilmember, I will work with you on affordable housing and a vibrant and sustainable local economy so that Kenmore can be a place for all of us.
We must invest in Kenmore’s natural environment.
Our quality of life depends on the health of our natural environment. Everyone in Kenmore deserves to breathe clean air, drink and recreate in clean water, and know the soil their family plays on is free from harmful pollutants. When we invest in Kenmore’s environment, we take care of all of us.
In order to achieve this vision, we need to take care of our trees, streams, and wetlands, act urgently to reduce our carbon emissions, and embrace sustainable ways to grow our neighborhoods. We need our urban trees and forests to keep our air clean and cool. We need our wetlands to be sponges, cleaning our water as it slowly filters into the ground and preventing flooding that harms our homes and roads. We need to build a sustainable, climate-resilient Kenmore in harmony with nature to secure a vibrant future for all of us.
I know how important the environment is to Kenmore residents and how special it is to have so much shoreline on Lake Washington, the Sammamish River, and Swamp Creek in our care. As your City Councilmember, I will work with you to make sure our environment and climate are protected.
We need to be good stewards of our financial and natural resources.
Approaching our financial and natural resources with care and from the perspective of reciprocity is imperative for the economic stability, sustainability, and long-term vitality of our community. Money and natural resources can help us do good things when we use them wisely.
In order to achieve this vision, we need to involve everyone in discussions about tax policies, revenue allocation, and the economic benefits of ecosystem services and make sure that decisions align with the needs and priorities of our community. The city has done a good job promoting public engagement in financial decision-making, including use of a public budgeting tool and convening a Financial Sustainability Task Force. I support the continued use of both of these tools and expanding their uptake and integration into decision making. The city should also recognize and value ecosystem services, increasing transparency about their value and benefit to our community, and making sure that sustainable development works with, not against them.
As your City Councilmember, I will work with you to be a good steward of all of our resources.
We have to see the humanity in one another.
Our community is strongest when people are seen, heard, and valued for who they are and everyone is included and belongs. Sometimes it seems like our differences are tearing us apart, but we don’t have to let that happen. Our shared humanity can be the way we embrace and bridge differences in service of building a more just, equitable, and economically strong Kenmore where everyone thrives.
In order to achieve this vision, we need to create more community spaces (like The Hangar!) where people can gather and be in conversation, prioritize listening to each other deeply for understanding, and make collective decisions that do not exclude or dehumanize others. Making space for people of diverse cultures and backgrounds improves our problem solving, fosters innovation, and leads to better decision making and more effective solutions to challenges. Inclusivity also help us build a more resilient and prosperous local economy.
As your City Councilmember, I will work with you from a place of empathy, kindness, and compassion. We will include everyone so we can achieve the best outcomes possible for our community.
